So we started Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, and lucky me, I got the main character. Lots and lots and lots and lots oh reading. And a few mistakes here and there. "We are at the mercy of the elephants." waiiiit a minute...that's not right. Good job, Megan. You are amazing. Also, I have the oldest book ever, pretty sure it's the like first copy ever. It's nice and beat up and stained. I'm getting off topic. So as I was saying, the play. I am actually really enjoying this. I'm not quite to sure what I thought it was going to be, but it is really interesting. And the question of whether or not it really is Rosencrantz and Guildenstern's play is really interesting. Sometimes I see it and other times, I am just like, nope. This is Hamlet. But we aren't finished with it yet, so we will see. I am really interested into seeing other people's point of view on this.
Okay maybe you're not supposed to get off topic in these blog posts but it makes it way more entertaining. Mercy of the elephants? My copy of Ceremony's pretty old and beat up so I understand!
ReplyDeleteYeah this book... I still don't know what to make of it! Is it Hamlet? Is it not? Is it pointless or is it full of meaning? It can go both ways I guess.
Speaking of off topic...when I had to read out loud in Hamlet, I said "cup of onion" instead of "cup of union"...so you're not alone, Megan :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, even after class discussions and extra reading...I still do not know what to think of R&G are Dead. It got quite confusing with how much playception was going on haha. I went back and forth between loving it and hating it. Needless to say, though, I won't be using this play for an Open Prompt on the AP exam.
